TPMS stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System. This whole system is designed to keep track and monitor the air pressure that’s kept inside your BF Goodrich Used Tires and new tires.
The TPMS can come on a variety of different vehicles and also reports the tire pressure information to the driver of the vehicle by showing some kind of signal light on the car’s dash. It’s two main targets include avoiding traffic accidents due to new & used tires that are underinflated by early recognition of the malfunction of tires and to reduce CO2 emissions and tire abrasion by optimal inflation.

The U.S. Department of Transportation NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) has developed a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard that actually requires for manufacturers to install tire pressure monitoring systems that warn the driver when a tire is even the least bit underinflated. The standard system can apply to vehicles such as passenger cars, trucks, those multipurpose passenger vehicles and buses with a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or less – whether they have BF Goodrich Used Tires or not.
Keeping the right tire pressure for a car is a pretty important factor in how much load its new & used tires can safely carry. When you have the right pressure, your tires will carry the weight without any problem at all. If you have too little pressure within your tires, you’ll most likely have a pretty bad tire failure on your hands.
If you haven’t already noticed, your new & used tires aren’t made to be invincible. Most tires are made up of individual layers of fabric and steel encased in rubber. If either one of your new & used tires are allowed to run on low air pressure, the rubber is then forced to stretch beyond the elastic limits of the fabric and steel reinforcing cords – this is not good whatsoever. When this happens, the bond that’s held between the different materials can then weaken. If you allow this to continue by any means, the bonds are going to officially break and then your new & used tires are going to fall!

Even if your tires don’t fall right at that same moment that happens, once the tire is weak, it can’t be healed after being re-inflated to the right pressure that it’s supposed to be at. So if you let a tire run flat for a certain amount of time, don’t just inflate it – replace it.
There have been studies conducted that reveal running new & used tires that are under inflated isn’t as uncommon as people think it is; there are probably 2 people in your house who have tires that are underinflated. The research has been done and it has been said that approximately one out of four cars on the road has underinflated tires on it. This information translated to one out of four drivers getting the less out of the gas that they’re putting in and they’re not getting the full handling that the car is equipped with. Not to mention that they might be putting other people’s lives in danger.
Because of all of this, the maintenance of tire pressure is something that should be considered super important to all of us drivers. Like I said before, the main job of the TPMS is to warn the driver when the pressure in their new & used tires is low.
